On Friday, a building under construction in Noida, Uttar Pradesh collapsed, killing at least two people. Five people trapped under the debris were rescued, but two of them succumbed to injuries. The police said the other three are currently in critical condition and are being treated.
The two were rescued at a critical moment. Suhas Lalinakere Yathiraj, Magistrate of Gautam Buddh Nagar District, said they have been transferred to the hospital for treatment.
“Twenty-four people died from casualties. Three people are stable and are being treated,” Noida police in Building 24 said when the building collapsed.
The building is located in District 11, and the incident occurred around 7.30 pm. A large number of police personnel, senior officials and teams from the fire department and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) participated in the rescue operation.
At the same time, according to an official statement issued in Lucknow, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also knew about the incident.
The Chief Minister has asked Gautam Buddh Nagar Police Chief Alok Singh to arrive at the scene of the incident and ensure that the victims are rescued and treated appropriately.
