Patna: Bihar Police Chief Gupteshwar Pandey said on Saturday (August 1, 2020) that the Bihar police team that went to Mumbai to investigate the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput has not been able to “find” the main defendant Rhea Chakraborty.
He said that the Bihar police are working based on the evidence and will send senior officials from here to Mumbai if necessary.
He said that the Bihar police investigation team in Mumbai has so far met with friends, colleagues and relatives of the deceased actor and collected many important information from them.
He said: “The Bihar police team of four who went to Mumbai recorded the testimony of Susante’s sister, ex-girlfriend Ankita Lohand, his chef, his friends and colleagues. The team also went to the bank. Collect information about the transaction. Taken from Sushant’s bank account. But Rhea Chakraborty has not been found yet.”
Regarding the request for the CBI to investigate the matter, DGP stated: “The Bihar Police Department is fully capable of investigating this case. If the Sushant family wants the CBI to investigate this case, it will take this into account, but Bihar The police will do everything possible to bring justice to Susante. I assure you that the police in Bihar are fully capable of doing justice to his family so that Susante’s soul can be peaceful.”
When asked about the allegations of moving out of jurisdiction to make charges on this issue, DGP made it clear that Sushant’s father himself had registered the case in Patna and then launched an investigation. He said that the defendant in this case has also been submitted to the Supreme Court, adding: “Everything the Supreme Court said will be followed. If the Bihar Police Department has the opportunity to investigate the matter, the facts will be revealed.”
Regarding the dispatch of other military officers to Mumbai, the Minister of Defense said that if necessary, a senior IPS-level military officer will also be dispatched to Mumbai so that he can meet with his colleagues for better coordination. Currently, the Bihar police force in Mumbai is working hard and has achieved some success.
At the same time, the Bihar Police Department also recorded director Rumi Jaffery’s statement on the Sushant case. According to the source, Rumi was asked for nearly 4 hours.
The source also said that the Bihar police received a lot of important information after the last few days of interrogating Rumi, because Rumi was close to Shusant in the last few days.
Earlier on July 25, Sushant’s father, KK Singh, registered a case against Rhea and six other people, including his family members, at the Rajiv Nagar Police Station in Patna, on the grounds that he taught his son to commit suicide.
After the case was registered, the Bihar police arrived in Mumbai and began investigating the case.
Rhea has also filed a lawsuit with the Supreme Court (Apex Court) to move the case to Mumbai. This decision will be made in the Supreme Court on August 5.
According to reports, Patna resident Sushant committed suicide in his Bandra residence in Mumbai on June 14.
